From the back cover:
Magnolia has finally departed home for college and left her sheltered existence behind. The mysterious Irishman who lives across the hall has piqued her interest and she intends to discover more about him. The more she gets to know him, the more she realizes she wants him to be the one.
Every woman dreams of how her first time will be. But Magnolia isn’t every woman. Magnolia doesn’t want flowers and candles and romance. She doesn’t want to be cherished. She wants to be defiled. She doesn’t want it gentle. She wants to be brutalized. She doesn’t want to be deflowered. She wants to be violated.
Like many of the authors I review, Athena and I follow each other on Twitter. I’ve wanted to read one of her books for the longest time. I chose Sweet Violation as my first read because I loved the idea that Magnolia wanted to be ravaged when she lost her virginity. Quite honestly, it was a helluva turn on.
I enjoyed the relationship between Maggie and Liam. Maggie is an 18-year-old college student living in an apartment across from Liam, a 34-year-old songwriter. Liam doesn’t notice Maggie at first, but she certainly notices him. Lucky for her Liam is rather famous and has his own Wiki page. Her homework suddenly switches from class work to songwriter.
Maggie decides Liam is the one to take her virginity. Unfortunately, she doesn’t know if he’ll be rough enough to satisfy her. Her concerns are laid to rest when an invitation to hear Liam play turns from his playing the piano to him playing with Maggie.
Maggie is still a virgin when Liam arrives for dinner the following Friday night. She is determined not to be by the end of the evening.
I really enjoyed this scene. It was romantic without going overboard. There was music and champagne. Good food and fun banter. Sexy dancing and hot foreplay.
The scene, like the rest of the book, was well-written with natural dialogue and great descriptions. There was even a surprise twist at the end that I did not see coming.
All this leads to the final scene where Maggie loses her virginity.
Earlier in the story, Maggie learns that the woman who previously rented her apartment was raped. It’s a quick scene and at the time I thought it was out of place. But it turned out to be foreshadowing for how the story ends. Sort of.
Maggie is asleep when a creaking sound awakes her. Before she can react a sharp slap stuns her and a man in a black ski mask quickly ties her hands to the headboard, immobilizing her.
It doesn’t take Maggie long to realize who is attacking her. She wanted to be defiled and violated, and that’s exactly what Liam does. The sex is rough and demanding, just the way Maggie dreamed it would be. It certainly had my heart racing.
If you’re looking for a romance with mind-blowing rough sex I highly recommend checking out Sweet Violation. I loved it. I think you will too.
